iPhone 5 Dominates The Media

iPhone 5 Dominates The Media

(Story from aeternusstudios.com)

Well, the iPhone 5 is finally here and it is the BIG news everywhere. From the number of pre-orders to news stories about people having to wait two weeks to get one, and the re-sales on Ebay for more than three times the original price, the iPhone seems to be on everyone’s minds and it’s not going anywhere.

The iPhone 5 marked a milestone when it hit 2 million pre-orders in its first 24 hours on the market.

Philip Schiller, senior VP of worldwide marketing said, “iPhone 5 pre-orders have shattered the previous record held by iPhone 4S and the customer response to iPhone 5 has been phenomenal… iPhone 5 is the best iPhone yet, the most beautiful product we’ve ever made, and we hope customers love it as much as we do.”

While the device doesn’t officially go on sale until September 21st, the pre-orders have already surpassed the number of available units. So if you’re after an iPhone 5 you’re going to have to wait quite a while, unless you’ve already secured your place among the first couple of million customers of course. Pre-orders continue to fly in, so it will be interesting to see what the numbers are a week or two after the device has been on the market.

iPhone 5 also touts its abilities as a “gaming monster.” There is more space for touch controls and the screen is more responsive, which addresses previous customer complaints about the iPhone’s gaming abilities. And much like the rest of the mobile world, the iPhone now has LTE, which means faster networking and multiplayer goodness. That brings it to the level where playing with your friends who happen to be using an iPad, or a laptop respectively, is now not only viable, but will end up being commonplace.

One thing you can bet on is that because of the device’s capabilities and the number of users already destined to own an iPhone, there will be another influx of small development companies making games for the soon to be ubiquitous mobile platform. It will be up to the developers to take advantage of all the new features to really make their games stand out. I, for one, hope to see just that; a ton of new developers making great games because of the available technology.

Where do you weigh in? Are you ordering an iPhone 5? Will you be using it to play games? Do you think the mobile platform has a solid gameplay experience? On The Agenda

This week we are having our usual Monday Meeting, followed by what will hopefully be a productive week of development! There are new screens to add to Bumper Madness. Bumper Madness is inches away from peer review so be looking for it to hit the Dashboard soon.

Also, our website has been getting a lot of love from our CEO Tod O’brien. Be sure to check it out so you can see what he’s been up to. There’s even a vector graphics based asteroids clone that you can play in your browser. Here is the link. http://www.aeternusstudios.com/

Still Kicking

Just a post to say, “Hey! We’re still here!” Several of us have had health problems, but we’re slowly getting back to our feet. Look forward to more posts again. I’m going to try to post at least every week if not more often. Thanks to anyone who’s been reading. I look forward to posting about our next game.

Maybe I’ll post one of the songs from the newest project…
